On September 7, 1949 the Village of Hazelwood was incorporated. In 1969 the city charter was approved. Hazelwood, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri has a population of over 26,000. This town has Sanford-Brown College, several other colleges within a short distance, and is located only ten miles from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Hazelwood is the home to, Woodward Skate Park, the newest skate park in St. Louis through the Department of Park and Recreation. This park provides skating areas for all skill levels. Two recreation centers,an aquatic center, and a disc golf course are also provided by the Parks and Recreation Department. Tourist would enjoy visiting Bigfoot 4x4 Inc. where the first monster truck, Bigfoot 1, is displayed and a tour of the monster truck factory is provided. Eating out is easy in Hazelwood with several restaurants available for your choosing; IHOP, Bob Evans, Fazoli's, Olive Garden, and Steak 'n Shake to name a few. Hazelwood sits on Interstates 270 and 170. Many businesses are part of Hazelwood including IBM, Boeing, GKN Aerospace, Matrix Packaging, and Confluence Solar. Also available in Hazelwood St Louis, Missouri, the St Louis Mills Mall which is 1.1 million square feet of retail businesses.
